For centuries, interpretations of Scripture have emphasized male authority and male leadership. Yet a careful reading of the Old and New Testaments reveals a more nuanced history-one in which women appear as prophets, judges, priestesses, patrons, disciples, and leaders within their communities.

In Women in the Bible, John Baldock offers a chronological and historically grounded study of women in biblical texts. Drawing directly from Scripture, he examines the lives and roles of key Old Testament and New Testament women, exploring how their stories were shaped by cultural context, religious tradition, and later interpretation.
